Rogue Valley Water Polo

What is Rogue Valley Water Polo?

About:

Rogue Valley Water Polo (RVWP) is a new water polo club that builds on the foundation of The Ashland Water Polo Club with the hope of growing water polo participation in the Rogue Valley.  Practices will be split between Rogue X, an incredible facility for water polo in Medford and Daniel Meyer Pool in Ashland.  It is open to grades 6-12 and is intended to be an inclusive club that will build water polo skills, character, and connection.

Mission:

Rogue Valley Water Polo (RVWP) Club is committed to nurturing exceptional water polo players while building a strong team orientation, a great work ethic, and a love for the fun of the game. Our club is dedicated to growing the sport by introducing it to young players as well as providing advanced training for more experienced athletes.

Inclusivity & Equality:

At RVWP we want everyone, regardless of their skill level, experience, or background to feel welcome and included. RVWP will be a team characterized by mutual respect, openness, and connection.

RVWP Club FAQ’s:

Are Ashland Water Polo and RVWP the same club?  Yes.  The coaching staff and board are the same.  RVWP is simply an extension or expansion of Ashland Water Polo and is building upon the Ashland Water Polo tradition.  The hope is to expand participation in water polo throughout the Rogue Valley and not just Ashland.  Utilizing pools in both Ashland and Medford for practices will hopefully accelerate this expansion.

Can I give it a try before committing?  Please do!  We allow and encourage 3 practices to be used as “trial” sessions before we ask you to fully commit for the session/season.

What if I want to only come occasionally?  While there will be times when other commitments get in the way of practice, we strongly encourage consistent attendance at practice.  Because practices and skills build over the course of a session and because it is a team sport that benefits from broader team participation, it is best that we have consistent attendance so that we can plan practices well, run a variety of drills, and have productive scrimmages.

Will we play games? For the Spring session we don’t currently have any games scheduled, but expect to have at least one tournament.  Based on participation and interest, we will look to schedule additional games if possible.  Otherwise, we will do some formal scrimmaging that will give participants a taste of real game experience.

Who do I ask if I have questions?  Please reach out to Ashland Water Polo in the “Contact” tab and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.  All questions are welcome!
